It is clear that something in America has changed for the worse. I personally think it is the culture and it starts with parenting. Kids these days have no respect for anyone or themselves. They argue with their parents, steal from anyone, and don't know the value of a dollar or the meaning of hard work. The reason for that is because parents these days are way to easy on their children.
I remember back when I was in Junior High and there were a bunch of kids who had Blackberrys. I think that is absolutely ridiculous. I didn't have a cell phone until I turned 16 got a job and bought one myself. I had the same rule for my first car I had to buy it and pay for the insurance every month before I could get one. That taught me that it was important to work hard for the things that you wanted in life. I wish that I had learned those things in my Freshmen and Sophomore years of High School because I would have worked harder and would have gotten into the schools that I have the potential for.
Where I'm going with this is that the young people of America have a feeling of entitlement. They think that everything should be given to them and that they shouldn't have to work for the things they want in life. What that means is that for schools and administrators have to "dumb things down a bit" so that the people with no work ethic can keep up with the few who strive to be the best that they can. There is a reason why our Social Security (the welfare part of it) and our school systems are both going down the tubes in a hurry. That reason is because of the new culture that is centered around the upbringing of the future leaders of America.
